PBL Jigsaw Day 1: What is project based learning?
Is an approach to teaching in which students are actively engaged in exploring real-world problems and challenges using collaborative learning and critical thinking. Students use written and oral communications to complete their projects. It also uses hands-on activities. Most students learn better when using this approach. Learners typically have more control over what they learn which allows the learners to shape their projects to fit their interests, abilities and learning styles.

Students work in groups on authentic problems. They learn through experience and can share and support each other. It is valuable b/c it is connected to real life. PBL promotes serious academic skills, evaluation, assessment, and information structuring.
The teachers role is no longer imparting knowledge. PBL offers resources that help students investigate and develop content purposefully
and creatively. Students are actively engaged in their learning. Studies show markedly improved test scores for students who have
used this method.
